| There are four true white-covered Marvel Silver Age keys (Fantastic Four #1, X-Men #1, Avengers #4 and Daredevil #1) and this is by far and away the best of them all. It's the book that ushered Marvel into the Marvel Age of comics and pretty much changed the way comic books would be written, drawn and looked at forever. Published in August, 1961 (release date was August 8 with a cover date of November, 1961), this first Marvel super-hero team concept came out toward the end of the monster/fantasy genre and has the touches of that style with the incredible Jack Kirby monster cover. Definitely one of the most important and in-demand comic books of all time and for true Marvelites, it is the apex of Western Civilization!! Offered here is an original owner copy (came out of Texas along with a 9.4 #2 and a 9.2 #5) that represents the only 9.6 ever aforded by the CGC (or any other grading company). Truly impossible to find in this ridiculous condition, there are only 3 known 9.4's, 2 known 9.2's and a lone 9.0. That's a total of only 7 copies (out of 525 submitted) to make it to the coveted VF/NM or better plateau. Indeed, it is one of the most difficult Marvel keys to locate in high grade and certainly the best one! This is an investment quality, no doubt about it Near Mint Plus with perfect centering, perfect staples, incredibly sharp corners, unblemished edges, a comically killer spine, unparalleled cover gloss and bone white pages. A one of a kind piece of American culture offered for the very first time for sale. This baby just doesn't grow on trees so sell those coins and climb aboard!! |
